Softshell Jackets ‘Product of the Month’ in Trail Magazine

March 12th, 2014

Softshell Jackets by Sub Zero continue to get rave reviews. The latest appeared in Trail magazine, where contributor Sarah Ryan said:

“I wore this on a two-day Lake District autumn hike – it began sunny(ish), progressed to cloud and by the end there was wind and hail. And I don’t recall ever taking it off.”

“When we made out initial ascent I unzipped the two huge pockets, undid the pit-zips and unstuck the Velcro cuffs, so beginning a consistent and reliable way of adapting the jacket to the needs of the person within and the weather without. In the end, this is all I really needed it to do. I forgot I was wearing it – and isn’t that exactly what you want?”

This review appeared in the January 2014 issue of Trail Magazine.

Bloo John Baselayer Review by TGO’s Chris Townsend

March 11th, 2014

Bloo John Baselayerss have always been a problems for TGO’s gear guru Chris Townsend for a number of years until he got his hands on a pair of our Sub Zero Merino Wool Bloo John Baselayers – and you might say he was quite impressed:

“They proved near enough perfect, being warm but not too hot, very comfortable, breathable, non-restrictive and still quite fragrant after 48 hours constant wear.”

“What makes these long johns different from others? I think there are a number of factors. Firstly there are no seams at all as they are made, in the UK, by a clever process called ‘Whole Body’ knitting. As seams can rub and catch as well as usually being less stretchy than the rest of the garment, which in a body hugging one can lead to discomfort, not having them is good for comfort. “

Factor 2 gloves reviewed on GearWeAre

March 10th, 2014

Outdoor gear review website, GearWeAre, has been testing a pair of our Factor 2 gloves this winter. Here’s what they had to say:

“The inside face is a soft, fleecy material which is pleasant to the touch and traps warm air… They’re nice, simple, warm gloves. If that’s what you need, give them a look.”
